There is Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself
Sometimes people are afraid or shy about a Colonic. But by understanding the treatment process, these feelings can be alleviated.
At the start of the session, you will lie on the treatment table on your left side with a gown covering your lower abdomen and legs. The certified colon hydrotherapist will slowly and gently insert a hollow plastic tube into the rectum. This tube, called a speculum, has attached to it the water inflow tube and release tubing which are both connected to the Colonic machine. The water entering the body is triple-filtered, removing all toxins, debris, and chlorine. The water also passes over an UltraViolet UV light, which cleans and alkalizes the water.
Our body's PH should optimally be slightly alkaline (although most of us are more acidic unfortunately.) The alkaline water entering the colon helps to subtly re-balance the body's natural alkaline state. And keeping in mind that the human body is primarily made of water, it is extremely beneficial to use alkalizing water to hydrate the body. But, not all Colonic Centers use a UV light to filter and alkalize the water. At SanaVita, we use the most advanced and complete water filtration system available.
At SanaVita, we use sanitized, individually wrapped disposable speculums, rather than the reusable metal speculums that are still used at some places. Once the speculum is inserted, the colon hydrotherapist attachs the waste tubing that allows the water and waste to come out during a release. It releases through the viewing tube of the Colonic machine and then directly into the sewer pipe. All the water and feces are enclosed in this tubing; so there is no odor. There is also a check valve inside the machine that never allows the clean water to mix with the dirty water.
Water flows into the rectum very slowly and at a controlled pressure. If you feel any discomfort, the colon hydrotherapist can immediately shut the water off. Usually, it will feel a bit strange the first time, but not too unpleasant. The water will be filling up your colon slowly, gently irrigating the waste material inside the colon. Once you feel full, the colon hydrotherapist immediately releases the pressure of water allowing you to release naturally the water along with the excrement through the tube. As this happens, the colon hydrotherapist is gently massaging your colon assisting the water and feces out during the release.
When you are ready, the colon hydrotherapist will do another fill of water. And together with your colon hydrotherapist, you continue this process for the duration of the session, one hour in length. When the session is over, you will turn back onto your left side so that the speculum can be removed. Then, you will be given time in a private bathroom to sit on the toilet and release anything else that has not yet come out through the tube.
After the session, the colon hydrotherapist will give you an electrolyte drink filled with trace minerals to replenish lost electrolytes and a pro-biotic to help replenish the healthy flora (good bacteria) that was lost during the Colonic. Both good and bad bacteria may be flushed out during a Colonic, and it is important to replenish the colon with healthy bacteria. And then you're finished.
Afterwards, almost everybody feels lighter, more energized and more alert.
What Do Doctors Say?
"In my practice, I recommend colonics when we are helping to improve a person's detoxification process... Colonics improve the liver's ability to cleanse itself. So, we see that colonics help people with allergies, chemical sensitivities, any immune system disfunction, heavy metal toxicity, and, of course, chronic constipation... The clients I've referred to SanaVita have all had great results."
