Ionic Footbaths

A Safe, Easy Way to Detoxify the Body
The human body is an extraordinary instrument, capable of healing itself and cleansing itself. The liver, kidneys, lungs, skin and colon all function to eliminate toxins in the body restoring the body’s natural balance of health.

But, we live in an environment so overloaded with toxins that we cannot possibly excrete all the toxins we are exposed to. The human body has not evolved to handle such a load of toxins.

Bioaccumulation
Science and medicine use the term bioaccumulation to refer to the accumulation of small amounts of toxic substances in an organism. The accumulation happens because the organism cannot excrete the substances fast enough and they build up in the body, leading to a host of problems.

Bioaccumulation leads to a chronic poisoning of the organism because the organism cannot get rid of the toxic substances fast enough.

100% Toxicity in the Human Organism
Between 1974 and 1992, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted an ongoing study collecting adipose (fat) samples taken from human autopsies or surgeries. They collected the tissue to analyze it for toxins.

This study, known as the National Human Adipose Tissue Survey or NHATS, was intended to establish a baseline for average levels of toxins in the U.S. population. What they found may astonish you.

If you are wondering or doubting whether you are carrying significant levels of dangerous toxins, here is your answer:  The NHATS study found the following five toxic chemical compounds in 100% of human fat tissue.

  • Styrene – found in styrofoam. Styreme, according to the EPA, is "a suspected carcinogen" and "a suspected toxin to the gastrointestinal, kidney, and respiratory systems, among others.”
  • 1,4-dichlorobenzene – found in pesticides, deodorants, disinfectants and moth balls. 1,4-dichlorobenzene is a known carcinogen (cancer-causing agent).
  • Xylene – found in automobile exhaust, paints, solvents, and cigarette smoke.  Xylene is highly toxic and leads almost immediately to headaches, eye irritations, skin reactions, dizziness, confusion, and over time, to severe neurological disorders.
  • Ethylphenol – found in disinfectants, floor polishes, air fresheners, adhesives, cigarette smoke and household cleaning products. Ethylphenol is also a suspected carcinogen.
  • Octachloro Dibenzodioxin – a class of dioxins, chemicals produced by burning.  Sources include coal fired utilities, municipal waste incinerators, metal smelting and diesel trucks.  Dioxins are particularly toxic to the human body.

In addition, in the NHATS study nine other poisons were found in 90-99% of the human tissue samples.

NOTE:  Many of these chemicals are volatile or semi-volatile, meaning they evaporate readily into the air. This means that you are exposed to them despite not using them yourself or being near common sources. In fact, you can be on the other side of the world. Pesticides sprayed in West Africa have been found in Florida 5 days later, and air pollutants released in China have been captured in Canada after just 3 days.

But Wait, There’s More!
The CDC also collects data on toxic exposure. In the National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals, the CDC found 100% of people had detectable levels of

  • Organophosphates – found in pesticides, insecticides, and originally used in Nerve Gas during WWII.
  • Phthalates – used primarily as plasticizers, substances added to plastics to increase their flexibility, durability, transparency and longevity. These substances are so toxic that they are being phased out of usage for children’s toys. But, just think about all the water you drink from a plastic bottle.
  • Heavy metals – cadmium, cesium, cobalt, lead, mercury and thallium were all found in 100% of samples.

So, the question is not “if we are toxic,” but “how toxic are we?” And then the better question is, “what are going to do about it?”

Chronic Poisoning
The overload of toxins on the human body leads to chronic deterioration of organ functioning, cellular respiration, brain function, heart function, liver function, kidney function etc. These toxins also disrupt enzyme activity inhibiting the absorption of nutrients like vitamins and minerals. The obesity epidemic has been linked to a toxic overload, for example.

But, these toxins affect the human body at such a foundational, cellular level that their bioaccumulation can be linked causally to just about every human health problem.

Start The Detoxification Process
Ionic Footbaths represent a technological breakthrough that enables a safe and easy way to effectively detoxify the human body and even reverse the effects of toxic overload.

Here’s how it works:  You place your feet in a Copper Tub, with regular tap water, and Sea Salt. An electrical charge is run through the water that breaks down the water molecules into negative and positive ions, from H2O to OH- and H+

All toxins are held in the body by positively charged electrical-chemical bonds. And, the breakdown of the body (think of rust), known as “oxidative stress,” results from and yields positively charged ions.  Positively charged ions in the blood lead to a weaker metabolism, weaker immune system and even acidosis in the blood.

So, basically, we want to neutralize positive ions in the body as much as possible to help keep the body in balance, strong, and healthy. And the way to neutralize them is by binding them with negative ions.

We are naturally exposed to negative ions in small quantities by breathing fresh air (not city air) especially after a rain-storm or near a waterfall or high up in the ozone layer. But these quantities are not enough for the levels of toxic overload that we are carrying.

Reversing The Effects of Toxic Overload
Ionic Footbaths represent a safe way to naturally expose the human body to negative ions. The OH- ions released in the water are attracted to the positively charged toxic bonds in the body.

These negative ions are absorbed through the skin of the feet. They engage the positively-charged toxins and neutralize the electro-chemical bond that holds the toxin in the body.  Once the bond has been neutralized, the toxin can be eliminated via urine, sweat, respiration or osmosis into the water of the footbath.

The salt in the water creates what’s known as a hypertonic solution. This solution attracts water and any toxic molecules released from their chemical bonds to diffuse through the skin into the water.  The skin is semi-permeable and will absorb water or release toxins. The footbath creates a chemical situation where the toxins in the body naturally diffuse into the water.

But, not all toxins in your body will come out via osmosis into the water.  In fact, most of the detoxification process will happen through your body’s ordinary elimination cycles. You will notice for 24 – 48 hours after your footbath that your urine, sweat, respiration or body odor may intensify. This is a sign that your body has been stimulated by negative ions to excrete toxins.

Benefits of The Ionic Footbath

  • Boosts the immune system
  • Eliminates built-up toxins
  • Oxygenates and hydrates the cells
  • Eliminate free radicals (like anti-oxidants do)
  • Activates the lymphatic system to drain intra-cellular toxins
  • Increases cellular absorption and cellular cleansing

How Does It Feel?
Many people notice immediately the sensation in their feet, or a sensation of something “being pulled” down their leg, or a throbbing in their feet. You may also feel a tingling on your skin especially around major lymph nodes in the neck, armpits and upper thighs.

The electrical field generated by the footbath stimulates the lymphatic system to activate its ordinary drainage cycle, draining toxins out of the intra-cellular tissue.

You may feel dehydrated during and afterwards. You will want to drink a tall glass of water immediately afterwards to replace lost water.

Does It Really Work?
The proof is in the pudding.  You will notice for yourself the effects. Some people focus on the color of the water and concern themselves with the toxins that are diffused out of the body into the water.

Independent lab studies do confirm that heavy metals and other toxins are present in the water after an ionic footbath.  Our own simple study of the process strongly suggested to us that toxins are indeed coming out of the body into the water.

But, the biggest test of the results is how you feel. We encourage you to try a series of footbaths, at least 5 footbaths over a period of a few weeks to see if you notice a difference.

You will notice that your energy levels improve, you may feel less tense, more relaxed, and you feel clearer and more alert. You may also notice that symptoms like chronic headaches, skin problems, insomnia and depression start to disappear as well.

Safe Detoxification
But, please bear in mind: detoxification is an ongoing process and is not something that should be done drastically. It can be equally damaging to the body to detoxify too quickly.  We encourage you to follow a safe and balanced approach to detoxification.

Ionic Footbaths represent a safe, effective and proven method of detoxification. We urge you to start your detoxification process now!
